Closing Lotus Shaped Bronze Vase

A cast and chiseled bronze of a closing lotus leaf with gold, shakudo, shibuichi and copper.The stalk of the lotus leaf winding elegantly forming the base. The decaying leaf skilfully chiselled features stems and flowers of another plant from which the head of a snake emerges. Attributed to the workshop of Shoami Katsuyoshi (1832-1908).
