The lotus brush washer and water dropper is modelled as a lotus pad and lotus pod, respectively. Supported on the lotus stem which rises to the top, with protruding spikes, the elongated lotus leaves with grooves and with a sharp tip covered in a white glaze, the lotus seeds are glazed in an aubergine colour. The lotus pad with deep rounded sides and a deep well is decorated on the exterior with fine veins covered in a green glaze, the interior exhibits an aubergine glazed small baby crab. The combination of both the brush washer and water dropper makes this piece ideal for the scholar to use it for calligraphy.

• A closely related example was formerly in the collection of Nelson and Happy Rockefeller, 2019.
