Japan
W:15cm x H: 8cm

This decagonal lobed teapot and cover is decorated in a vibrant array of blue, red, green, yellow and black enamels. The main design which unfolds across the entire body of the teapot to the handle and spout is of a lively nature scene. It features one solitary blue bird with outstretched wings perched on a thin branch of a flowering tree. Sprays of red and yellow flowers adorn the scene and also feature on the lid of the teapot which is topped off with a finial in the shape of a flower bud.

Similar Example:  An almost identical teapot is currently on show at the Ostasiatiska Museet in Stockholm, museum number OM-1987-0122.
