This crisply moulded bowl has been formed with a band of lotus petals on the exterior which arise from a recessed foot rim. The piece is covered in a pale olive-green celadon glaze which pools slightly in the crevices of the decoration and stops neatly at the base. The interior is covered in a design of chrysanthemum sprays on a scrolling foliate ground. The glaze on the interior sinks into the shallow carvings of the design to give the striking contrast of light and dark shades seen.
